HPV VACCINATION GRANT

Are you a pediatric practice in Virginia that wants to improve your HPV vaccination rate?  Maybe even earn MOC credit for participating? Then you are likely to be eligible to participate in our QI project!   It is a great opportunity for providers in your own practice and other pediatric offices to work collaboratively on a quality improvement project that will protect adolescents in our state.

The Virginia Chapter was awarded the Adolescent Vaccinations and Wellness Grant supported by Merck. This grant bolsters the Virginia Chapter’s efforts to improve adolescent vaccination rates and is part of our ongoing strategic efforts aimed at educating providers and patients about the importance of the HPV Vaccine. Measures in this project are used to evaluate pre and post program effectiveness and shape ongoing strategies for continued success. The new grant will allow for continuation of this fantastic work.

VIRGINIA MENTAL HEALTH ACCESS PROGRAM

THE PROBLEM:

Virginia children cannot access the mental health services they need. We suffer from a severe shortage of child psychiatrists- only two counties have sufficient numbers of child psychiatrists. Over half the counties do not even have one child/adolescent mental health professional. 1 in 5 children has a diagnosable mental disorder & 1 in 10 suffers from a serious mental health problem. The majority of these children have nowhere to go for help.

THE SOLUTION:
WHAT IS VMAP?
WHAT CAN THE STATE DO?

Dr. Sandy Chung is serving as the Chair of the Steering Committee and may be reached at schung@fairfaxpeds.com.
