Virginia Hearing Aid Loan Bank
The Virginia Hearing Aid Loan Bank (VHALB) was established in May 2005 by the Virginia Department of Health Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (VEHDI). The VHALB is housed at Blue Ridge Care Connection for Children in Charlottesville. These two programs work closely together to provide hearing devices to children across the Commonwealth free of charge. The goal of the loan bank is to get amplification on a child as soon after diagnosis as possible. This will help to prevent speech and language delays.
There are only three requirements for using the loan bank. The child must meet the age requirement, be diagnosed with a hearing loss and be a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
